Bel Air is an affluent and exclusive gated community on the Westside of Los Angeles.  Alphonzo Bell founded the community in 1923 and it is part of the Platinum Triangle – Bel Air, Beverly Hills and Holmby Hills. 

The Bel Air Country Club and the Hotel Bel Air form the heart of this exclusive community.  Residences tend to be private and hidden from the winding roads, and they range from modest ranch style homes to grand mansions.  The most desirable homes are right off the main entrances of Bel Air and the country club entrance for these homes have views of both the Bel Air Country Club and the rest of Los Angeles.

Multi-Family housing is not permitted within the community and strict ordinances regarding architectural styles, landscaping and lot sizes exist to preserve the quality of life and character of Bel Air.  There are no residential sidewalks (to discourage the public from walking around the community) and it is heavily patrolled by local security - both attempts to reinforce the safety and privacy of Bel Air residents. 

Neighboring communities include Beverly Post Office and Brentwood.
